There are several ways by which you can update the XXU0AOB1 firmware on your Galaxy J1 J100F such as- through Samsung Kies utility (from your PC), Via OTA (Over the Air, directly from your device using WiFi) and Odin method (manually download firmware and flash through Odin).   2. Go to Settings-About, and tap on the Update Option from there (If its show “The latest update have already been installed” message, then your device haven’t receive any OTA yet, check back later or try installing through Kies.)
  3. Tap OK to start the download and installation process
  4. Once done, your device will reboot automatically

How to Update Official Firmware on Galaxy J1 SM-J100F through Samsung Kies Utility:

  1. Turn on WiFi or Mobile Data on your device (should have stable Internet connection)
  2. Download and Install Samsung Kies Utility on your PC
  3. Connect your device to PC through USB
  4. Open/Run Samsung Kies, it should automatically detect your device
  5. At the Samsung Kies home screen, you’ll see New Firmware Upgrade is available notification (If it show- “This is the last firmware”, then your device haven’t received the latest firmware on Kies, check back later or try flashing manually through Odin)
  6. Click on the Firmware Upgrade button to start the update process
  7. Follow onscreen instructions
  8. Once done, your device will be reboot automatically
  9. After reboot, you can disconnect your device from PC

How to Update J100FXXU0AOB1 Firmware on Galaxy J1 J100F through Odin:

Kies and OTA are the official way to update firmware but most of us prefer manual way to update official firmware. So, below you’ll find step by step manual guide to update the XXU0AOB1 4.4.4 KitKat firmware on your Galaxy J1 J100F through Odin software on your PC or Laptop.

"The firmware is released only for the Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100F model, so don’t try this in any other android device. Check your device model number from Settings-About Phone. Also the tutorial is based on Windows PC. NasirTech is not responsible if anything wrong happens to your device after following this guide, try this at your own risk".

Points to be noted:

1) Check battery percentage, your device should have at least 60% battery power

2) Turn on USB Debugging mode, go to Settings-General-Developer Options (As the Developer options are hidden by default on all Android device running on Android 4.2 or up, So go to Settings-General-About on your Galaxy J1 and tap Build Number for 7 times to visible the Developer options.) See the image below.

3) Backup important data and settings to external storage

4) Install USB driver for your device on your PC/Laptop-

5) If your Galaxy J1 J100F have any Custom ROM installed such as- CyanogenMod ROM, ParanoidAndroid ROM, AOKP ROM, SLIM ROM, PACman ROM, Avatar ROM, Omni ROM, LiquidSmooth ROM, Beanstalk ROM, Carbon ROM etc, then it’ll be replaced by stock firmware.

6) Custom Recovery (CWM or TWRP Recovery) will be replaced by Stock Recovery

7) After flashing official firmware, your device will no longer belongs to rooted device. However you can root your device any time after flashing the firmware.

Steps to update J100FXXU0AOB1 4.4.4 KitKat firmware on Galaxy J1 J100F through Odin: 

1) Download XXU0AOB1 4.4.4 KitKat firmware for Galaxy J1 J100F from the above download section

2) Download Odin 3.09

3) Switch off and boot Galaxy J1 J100F into Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down+Home+Power buttons (long press until the boot screen appear), now press Volume Up key to proceed to Download Mode.  

4) Extract the downloaded Odin3.09 zip file and run the Odin3 v3.09.exe file as an administrator(Right click on the .exe file and click on Run as administrator)

5) Now connect your Galaxy J1 J100F to your computer via USB cable

6) In Odin3 screen, you should see a COM Port number like “0:[COM7]” at ID:COM section and“Added!” text at the message box. This means your device has been detected by Odin3.

7) Make sure that, only the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options are checked in Odin.

8) Now, extract the downloaded firmware zip file, you’ll find a firmware file with extension.tar.md5

9) In Odin screen, click on AP (PDA in older Odin) button and select the firmware file with.tar.md5 extension (The firmware file look something like: J100F XXDLJ5_J100F ODDDLI7_INU.tar.md5)

10) Now, click on the Start button to begin the installation process, wait few moments.

11) Once completed, you would see “PASS!” message in ID:COM port having green background

12) Your device should automatically reboot after completion

13) You can now disconnect your device from computer

14) Finish

Hope you successfully completed the update process. If you followed everything as mentioned in the above tutorial, then your device should now running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat build version number XXU0AOB1 . You can verify the firmware update details from Settings-About Phone.

  2. Sir ... I already install (Unknown: J100FXXU0AOB1_J100FOJV0AOB1_MRU.zip) from this site by Odin 3.7.10. Now i try to root my samsung galaxy J1 SM-j100F through iRoot and KingoRoot by computer. But it shows me that root faild. Now please tell me what can I do to root my device.
